Oh, sure you want to take full advantage of the steals and deals of Black Friday. But save some cash for Small Business Saturday (November 28th) and help support the locally-owned businesses of Las Vegas.
Plus, you’ll probably find some really cool finds that you wouldn’t ordinarily find in the big box stores. They say it’s the thought that counts, but the reality is that your friends and family love it when you give them something original and unique, and Small Business Saturday is your perfect opportunity to do just that.
So pull out your list of gift recipients, set aside some of your budget for Small Business Saturday, and take notes of these promotions, sales, and shopportunities happening in Las Vegas.
My good friend, and owner of the The Jeweler’s Daughter, Polly Weinstein is at it again! First, she started Neon Bazaar, a one-day holiday shop (which won’t be taking place this year), and now she’s created The Jeweler’s Daughter and Friends, a holiday popup shop devoted to local Las Vegas artists, craftsmen, and entrepreneurs. The shop opens 11:00 am on Saturday, November 28th and runs through Christmas Eve.
Participating designers and craftsmen include The Jeweler’s Daughter, Jerry Misko, Cristina Paulos, IAdornU, Illuminati Shop, Shape & Stile, Heather Marianna’s Beauty Kitchen, Naturally Pure, Eric Vozzola, Harvest Paper Co. and more to be announced. A new Misko mural on the building will greet customers at the entrance of the shop, which is located at Tower of Jewels, 896 East Sahara Avenue.
Another one of my favorite places to shop for jewelry is MarkieChar, with two locations: The MarketLV at Tivoli Village (440 South Rampart) and Town Square Las Vegas (6605 South Las Vegas Boulevard). Enjoy “MarkieChar Therapy,” by earning store credit for purchases made. Earn $5 on a $10 purchase, $10 on a $50 purchase, and $20 on a $100 purchase. Visit the MarkieChar Jewelry Facebook page for more information.
While at The MarketLV, treat yourself and the people you love to something sweet to eat. B Sweet Candy Boutique is offering 15% off everything in the store when you mention Small Business Saturday or Shop Small. B Sweet is the only place where I will purchase cotton candy. It’s seriously the best!
The holidays can be hectic. Keep calm and buy a salt lamp. In fact, buy any retail item at Salt Room LV on Small Business Saturday and save 20%. This offer INCLUDES gift cards!!! No one ever does that! Shop Salt Room LV at 1958 Village Center Circle, Suite 7.
Downtown Las Vegas is the perfect spot for shopping small, as most businesses in the area are locally-owned. This includes Rogue Toys, a nostalgic place for toy collectors and enthusiasts. During Small Business Saturday, save 10% on everything in the store. Visit Rogue Toys at 616 South Las Vegas Boulevard.
Downtown Container Park is offering fun for the whole family. Santa makes his entrance at noon on a fire truck. Then an hour later, Chef Donald Lemperle from Vegenation, Chef Stacey Dougan from Simply Pure and Shane Stuart from Grass Roots will teach shoppers different healthy and tasty holiday food options. I mean, just because it’s a season for celebrating doesn’t mean you have to pack on the pounds, right?
Additionally, Container Park will hold a social media contest with the winner receiving $250 in Container Park bucks. To enter, individuals must stop by Container Park, find the photo opp for the day and take a photo to post along with the hashtag #shopsmalldtlv. Shop Downtown Container Park at 707 Fremont Street.
But don’t leave Fido at home! The Hydrant Club, a canine social club and training academy, will entertain your pooch for 2-4 hours while you shop for only $15. You must bring your dog vaccination records with you to take advantage of this offer. And a dog-loving Santa will also be available for photos with your fur baby, and special offers will be featured in the club’s retail center, too. Find The Hydrant Club at 101 North 9th Street.
