So many times I see the cutest girls wearing the cutest outfits, who do it right by wearing complimenting layers and pulling it all together with a belt. But invariably there is always one thing I want to change about their outfit – bring the belt out and cinch it around the top layer. In other words, belt outside of the jacket or sweater they are wearing.
It’s true, a belt nicely completes an outfit. But when it’s worn beneath a jacket or sweater, the world only catches a mere glimpse of this necessary accessory. When worn outside of the top layer of an outfit, a belt becomes a statement piece, a sort of punctuation mark on the outfit. And hopefully, it’s an exclamation point!
My before and after photos below are a great visual of how different an outfit can look when belted on the outside. If you live in a warmer climate, as I do, remember you can always remove your jacket then re-belt your outfit sans top layer. So in a sense, it’s as though you go through an outfit change and create a new look on the spot. Believe it or not, being able to convert your outfit for your own comfort level impresses many people. I do it all the time and it never ceases to amaze the crowd. Belt it out, and turn your outfit from okay to “voila!”
