Not only did I get the chance to meet the team and have my photo taken with the designing duo, I also got a personal demonstration of the reversible tote, which I immediately fell in love with (and which is destined to be this month’s handbag of the month).

To meet Lambertson Truex at a celebratory soiree at Tiffany at Crystals here in Las Vegas, I chose to wear my Zara snakeskin printed tuxedo jacket paired with my electric blue pants, because nothing says “Hello, I’m your local fashion blogger” like a bright and bold ensemble. Look for follow up posts next week regarding the Tiffany & Co. line of bags.

As if carnivals and circuses aren’t weird enough, this show takes it further by creating fantasies, stunts and acrobatic absurdities that only a hallucinogenic can create. Let’s just say, it’s pretty wild. But because it’s just so different than the other adult oriented shows in town, it’s simply special. And a special show calls for a special outfit.

Let’s start with this jacket. I had been dying for a tuxedo jacket and a metallic blazer, so to find the two looks combined in one style at  Zara  just made my day. The shoes are a $34 consignment store bargain purchased back in the mid-1990s when I lived in Austin, Texas. I’ve kept them all these years knowing I’d be glad I did. And I am. They’re Audley London, and back then if you wanted a pair of Audley in the U.S., you’d have to go to New York. But now, you can purchase Audley shoes online at www.audleyshoes.com/shop. There are some things that you just have to hold onto forever, and for me it’s these shoes and this new jacket!

Studded shoes are on the market now, so I figure why wait until fall? I got these in-store at Aldo for only $59.99. Score!

Tip: When wearing studded shoes, keep your outfit simple and sleek. You may be tempted to rock out and pair your studded shoes with a studded belt or some other rocker chic accessories, but unless you want to end up looking like a 13-year-old walking out of Hot Topic, I recommend a more sophisticated style.

I was a varsity cheerleader (obviously) and hated our school colors. I kept thinking that our uniforms would be so much cuter if our colors were red and gold, or blue and silver, or better yet, pink and white. Now that I’m older I can appreciate brown and gold. The combination is warm, calm and happy. And when it’s complemented with a bit of black and white, like in this dress, then it becomes artistic. 

I think I’m ready for a high school reunion.
