While fashion retailers and brands are catching onto the fact that new media is media, the event organizers and producers behind fashion trade shows such as WSA, MAGIC, Pool, Project and others don’t. I can never get a press pass into such shows as a blogger, because they don’t recognize bloggers as members of the media. So, I infiltrated my way into Accessories The Show, Moda and MRKET by taking a job as a temporary event assistant.

Guess what my job was? Checking in the media! It was awesome. I made some great contacts and learned how I can get into trade shows. Luckily for me, I’m getting work with traditional media outlets, including being published in local magazines. So I foresee myself finally getting into the fashion trade shows as a member of the media. Score one for Lollie!

My temp job required me to wear a uniform – black pants and a white shirt. You know me. I absolutely cannot walk around looking like other people. I did all I could to make myself stand out, and it was all about the accessories.

It all began with this boring outfit.

Standing on my feet most of the day required comfy shoes. These are the ones that Tsubo sent me.

I stopped by the Global Shop expo and conference to learn what the future holds for the in-store shopping experience. I learned quite a bit. Be sure to visit Lollie Shopping over the next couple of weeks as I post about some new things you can expect to see in your favorite stores.

Outfit of the Week

Time for another Tweetup. I sure go to a lot of these, don’t I? This particular one was ladies only, and I couldn’t wait to see old friends and finally meet in person women with whom I’ve been talking to on Twitter.

I had to go from the office to the event, so I opted for something with which I could create two looks. The basis of the outfit is the zebra print lingerie top and denim trousers. Add a cardigan, and I’m office appropriate. Take off the sweater and add a rockin’ leather jacket, and I’m ready for a night out with the gals.

And check out my new hot shoes. Tsubo sent me these darling, fashion-forward oxfords called Nabu, which I plan to review in a future post. What I can tell you now is that these shoes are SUPER COMFY. I could run a marathon in these shoes. They have great style, but are as comfortable as a sneaker. I kid you not.
