Shopping Spree at Ross

Monday, July 19th, 2010

Las Vegas bargain hunters rejoice. Another Ross Dress for Less location has opened on the Strip. That means even more options for locals and visitors who like to save on fashionable styles.

Vegas local and Lollie Shopping reader Sara Mooney won a shopping date with me, sponsored by Ross. Together, we visited the newest Ross Dress for Less location at Showcase Mall. With two stories of savings, we both found apparel and accessories to match our taste and our budget.

Recently obtaining her Master’s degree, Sara was on the hunt for career wear. Her current job allows her to get away with denim and nice blouses, but we decided she needed clothes to complement the job she wants and not the job she has. Even career counselors advise: dress for the job you want.

In order to protect the integrity of the amazing discounts Ross offers their customers, I can’t go into details about the brands we purchased. But I can tell you this, for less than $200, we found Sara a ton of clothes to help her look and feel confident during her career change.

Sara got a gorgeous pumpkin spice blouse that she can wear to work or on a date. She also nabbed a professional yet contemporary looking suit, some classic black pants, a sleek black skirt and some versatile navy pants. Her purchase of the day, however, was an LBD by her favorite designer. Sara was ecstatic with how her shopping date went and said, “Thank you, Ross!”

After we found everything Sara needed, I shopped for myself. I purchased a gorgeous, form-fitting designer dress and a few hair accessories. My find of the day was a pair of luxury designer sunglasses, which are pictured below. I had to censor out the logo, but I must reiterate, these are a LUXURY brand. While most of the savings you’ll find at Ross are somewhere between 20%-60% off department store regular prices, I actually saved about 70% on my sunglasses.

So whether you are a Las Vegas resident or a visitor, be sure to add the new Ross in Showcase Mall to your shopping radar, located next to MGM Grand. Besides misses and women’s, the selection also includes men’s, children’s, maternity, plus sizes, petite size, juniors, fragrances and more. You’ll definitely find what you’re looking for, and the best part is, you’ll save money, too!

Shop the new Ross Dress for Less at 3771 South Las Vegas Boulevard. The store is open daily Monday through Sunday from 9:00 am to 11:00 pm.

Sunglass Hunt

Tuesday, June 8th, 2010

I have turned into a sunglass whore. I just purchased two fab pairs of sunnies from FredFlare.com and I received a complimentary pair of BluBlocker sunglasses from BluBlockersRock.com, so you would think I have had my sunglass fix for the season. But, no. I am currently on the hunt for gold aviators, just like SJP’s in “Sex and the City 2.”

I found a great pair of Jessica Simpson gold aviators at TJMaxx for only $12, but the size of the lenses just were not working for my round face. So, I’m still hunting. Here are a few pairs I found that I am interested in checking out, and I’d like to share them with you. Let me know if you pick up a pair!

Bringin’ BluBlockers Back

Wednesday, June 2nd, 2010

They’re back and as seen on TV. I’m talking BluBlockers, baby! The original brand to block harmful UV rays and bluelight, BluBlockers protect your eyes and eliminate glare from the road while you’re driving.

BluBlockersRock.com gave me a complimentary pair to try out, and I’ve been wearing them around sunny, bright Las Vegas. I can tell you first-hand that they work. Plus the ultra cool, retro look of my white BluBlockers have gotten me tons of attention and compliments. I heart my BluBlockers.

And BluBlockers are inexpensive. The matte black and tortoise aviators are only $25, while the white frames are $30. Totally do-able. You can purchase BluBlocker Sunglasses at BluBlockersRock.com.

WIN BLUBLOCKERS
Sponsored by BluBlockersRock.com, you can win a pair of the Demi Tortoise Aviator sunglasses by doing one of the following:

You have until the end of June to enter. One winner will be randomly chosen and will win one pair of the Demi Tortoise Aviator sunglasses. Good luck!

Check out my animoto video below and see some close up shots of BluBlocker sunglasses as well as photos of me wearing them. Enjoy!

The Right Shades for Your Face

Wednesday, April 21st, 2010

Choosing a new pair of eyeglasses can be daunting if you don’t know what to look for. Face shape and coloring are two factors to keep in mind, but sometimes that isn’t enough. By taking a closer look at your facial features, you can select the best fitting frames for your face.

“The great thing about eyeglasses is that there is a frame that can work with any type of facial feature, from a broad forehead to a long nose to high cheekbones,” said Deborah Lochli-McGrath, optician and spokesperson for The Vision Council. “Finding the perfect fit of eyewear is achievable, if you know what to look for.”

Having trouble finding eyewear that works right for you? Check out these fool proof tips from The Vision Council to help you find easy solutions for your facial fitting worries:

*To shorten a face, try mid- or low-temples; or a low bridge
*To lengthen a profile, try high or mid-height temples; a high bridge; or rimless frames
*To shorten a long nose, try frames with a low or colored bridge
*To lengthen a short nose, try a keyhole bridge or a high or clear bridge
*To narrow and lengthen a wide nose, try a clear or metal bridge that sits close to the nose
*To shorten a high forehead, try mid or low temples
*To widen close-set eyes, try a clear bridge or colored temples
*To narrow wide-set eyes, try a dark-colored bridge

In addition to solving these common facial features woes, always remember these key things when selecting eyewear: frames should contrast with your face shape, frame size should be in scale with your face size and eyewear should balance personal proportion.

Friday, April 16th, 2010

How poetic that this currently coveting piece should be inspired by Jennine Jacob of The Coveted, one of my favorite fashion blogs. Isn’t she simply delightful in her big round sunglasses? I want a pair now. And the pair I recommend from ShockBoutique.com is only $20!
