Outfit of the Week

Friday, April 23rd, 2010

Via the courtesy of the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Las Vegas, The Joint and Supernatural Santana, my hubby and I received free tickets to see this Carlos Santana show, and here is what I wore. I went for a rocker girl look, but I wanted to feel comfortable, too.

By the way, Supernatural Santana is a must-see Las Vegas show. The man truly is guitar legend, and if you have a true appreciation for music and talent, you will absolutely love this show!

For the outfit, I selected to go with cropped boyfriend jeans. They’re comfortable enough, but they’re also versatile enough for dressing up.

Then I added a belt and some caged shoes. You don’t have to match your belt and shoes anymore. That rule is out the window. However, for this particular outfit, that guideline worked.

Next, my sequin top. I knew I wanted to do sequins. And I’ve owned this halter forever. I got it at the Neiman Marcus Last Call outlet for about $20. I don’t wear it often, because I can’t wear it with a bra and I’m not a bra-less kind of woman. But you’ll see that I add a jacket, so I feel more comfortable. And the sequins then have a peek-a-boo affect within the style of the outfit.

The jacket really helps to pull the look together. I’m a glam-rock girl, but I feel really comfortable, too.
The Outfit: Attack! jacket; sequin halter by DKNY; Old Navy cropped boyfriend jeans;
shoes by L.A.M.B.

Moxsie Pick of the Day

Tuesday, February 9th, 2010

I love Matiko footwear. They’re so fashion-forward, contemporary, fresh and unique. Wedges are super hot for Spring 2010, and these Matiko Sid Yellow wedges are on-trend. They’re a fresh take on the classic desert boot.

Matiko Sid Yellow Wedge Ankle Boot, $172

Style Tips:

  • Wear with a femme, floral romper
  • Sport with a graphic tee, frayed denim shorts and a pair of neutral tights
  • Try these wedges with a slubbed tee and slouchy, cropped boyfriend jeans

Outfit of the Week

Friday, December 4th, 2009

I wore this outfit to the UKLV Monte Carlo or Bust event, which I was invited to by my good friend Sam, a fellow fashionista and one of the entrepreneurs behind Vegas Rock Dog. The event included the Vintage Vegas Show with Zowie Bowie and an after-party.

UKLV is a wonderful Las Vegas-based social organization which basically brings a little bit of Britain to Las Vegas. I felt so honored to be a part of the festivities, I HAD to dress up and make a good impression. It must have worked, because the usher upgraded our seats for the show to the SECOND ROW!

I got the dress on sale at Dillards.com for about half the original price. The beaded bag was a holiday gift from a few years back and the peacock feather headband was purchased in-store at Aldo where I also got my shoes. The next UKLV event is a holiday party at the Luxor, and I’m already planning a dazzling outfit for that one, too!

The Details:

Looped, beaded black evening bag and peacock headband.

Killer leopard print platforms.

The Outfit:

Dress:
Calvin Klein

Handbag:
La Regale

Shoes:
Aldo

Outfit of the Week

Friday, November 6th, 2009

Halloween may be over, but my love for the macabre never dies. It’s casual Friday, and I take what could be a generic outfit (jeans and t-shirt) and make it a little more interesting. The shoes are from Iron Fist, and they’ve proven to be difficult to find. I got this pair from Hot Topic in-store. Iron Fist shoes are very unique, creative and way inexpensive. And while they’re cheap in price, they’re not cheap in quality and surprisingly comfortable.

The Details:

Cropped Military Jacket

Giant Safety Pin with
Dangling Chains and Skulls

Iron Fist Zombie Stomper Heels

The Outfit:

Jacket:
Bizz

T-shirt:
Charlotte Russe

Jeans:
J Brand

Shoes:
Iron Fist
