Back in February, I was contacted by a reader, whom I refer to as K., and who had a bad experience shopping at Editors’ Closet. I invited her to write a guest blog post reviewing the online sample sale site. You can read her Editors’ Closet review here.
Since then, many comments have been left at this particular blog post by other readers who wish to share their own experiences with Editors’ Closet, some bad and some satisfactory. The biggest complaint is lack of follow up, such as a confirmation email and/or tracking number. However, readers also began to question the authenticity of the products they received from Editors’ Closet.
I never received confirmed information that there was any validity to the concern and one reader left a comment confirming the products she received were, in fact, authentic. Her complaint was a slow refund process.
Keeping in mind that I have a background in retail marketing, I have to say that I was skeptical of the notion that Editors’ Closet sells counterfeit products. Based on my professional experience and knowledge of the retail and fashion industry, it would be impossible for Editors’ Closet to remain in business if in fact the site was selling fake merchandise. Fake merchandise is usually sold in a more anonymous and under-the-radar setting, such as in a back alley, out of the trunk of someone’s car, via Craigslist or, of course, on Ebay.
Just recently, I was contacted by the Vice President of Sales at Editors’ Closet who discovered the blog post reviewing the site and the many, many comments left. Rather than be defensive or demand I take the blog post down, he was instead courteous, professional and showed much concern over the issues raised at Lollie Shopping in regards to Editors’ Closet. And, he addressed the following:
1. All products sold at Editors’ Closet are guaranteed authentic. Editors’ Closet is an authorized dealer for all brands sold at the website.
2. The customer service issues have been recognized. Editors’ Closet has encountered tremendous growth in the two years since they began and they are constantly working to improve their service. However, if you do encounter an issue, please do not hesitate to call the Editors’ Closet customer service line at 888-864-5750.
I was very surprised to hear from Editors’ Closet and impressed with their interest in the posted review and comments left by other readers. I do believe the company to be trustworthy and professional, yet, I do believe some improvement is needed in order to increase the overall satisfaction of every customer who shops at Editors’ Closet.
After contacting me and assuring me they have every intention of improving their service, I also believe there is hope and that we will indeed see a change for the better. In fact, I plan on finally giving Editors’ Closet a try. After all, I have $15 worth of coupons I earned from sending out invitations to join the site when they first opened. I’ll keep you posted.
Thank you to everyone who posted comments about their experiences. Please continue to let me know how your shopping experiences are at Editors’ Closet.
