Moxsie Pick of the Day

Tuesday, January 26th, 2010

I’m always blogging for the women, but this post is for the guys. Why? Well, let’s just say I’ve been on a Dave Matthews Band kick lately and when I spotted these Vael Project Deckard Boots in Geoff Brown, I thought Dave would look hot in these. In fact, any down-to-earth man in a pair of jeans or cargo pants and a desheveled plaid shirt strumming a guitar would woo women in these manly boots. Plus, they look comfortable. And isn’t that what men really want when sweet-talking the girls? After all, it’s hard to be seductive when your feet hurt.

Style tip: This boot looks better with the shaft worn outside the pants. Trust me on this one.

PicClick Makes Ebay Shopping Easier

Tuesday, November 17th, 2009

A true frugalista knows that Ebay must remain on one’s shopping radar when shopping for fashion. I’ve purchased many fashion finds on Ebay and I’ve sold many fashion finds on this online auction site, including styles from Ferragamo and Missoni. So, if you have yet to discover the treasure trove that is Ebay, do so now. And, if you have yet to find the easiest way to shop for fashion on this has-everything website, discover it now with PicClick.

Don’t let the homepage deter you. PicClick is a great Ebay and fashion tool that you can use to search for awesome fashion finds. You know I love my vintage. And at PicClick, you can search for great vintage wear by first clicking on Clothing, Shoes & Accessories, then clicking on Vintage. From there, you can select Vintage Accessories, Women’s Vintage Clothing, etc.

Are you thinking you could simply use the search engine on Ebay? If you’re a real shopper, you know that’s no fun. Just see below to compare the search via PicClick versus the search via Ebay. With PicClick, your shopping instinct kicks into high-gear.

The Ebay Fashion Search for Over-the-Knee Boots:

The PicClick Fashion Search for Over-the-Knee Boots

See what I mean? View the most of your search at once! Isn’t that the fastest and easiest way to shop? I love PicClick. And if you’re planning on using Ebay to shop for this holiday season or to simply satisfy your fashion cravings, be sure to use PicClick and make your shopping easier!

Experience a Shoegasm

Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009

Are you ready to experience Shoegasm?

Shoegasm officially opened its doors for business in 1999, with their first store located at 20 W. 23rd Street in New York City. As a uniquely chic space for fashionable shoes at affordable prices, it was only a matter of time before their concept caught fire. In 2004 they opened their second New York store in the Meatpacking District location, followed by their third opening in Tribeca in 2006. Can’t get to New York? Don’t worry. All shoe lovers get to experience the ecstasy of Shoegasm. Visit their website, select your favorites from their current collection and place your order by calling Shoegasm at 212-691-2091.

Here are three of my favorite boot styles courtesy of NYC’s Shoegasm!

There’s no better way to spice up your look than with a cute pair of ankle boots. Why not make them colorful? This cute crimson boot with a kicky ruffle is a total attention-getter and is sure to make an outfit unique. I can see these peeking out from a pair of wide-legged jeans, or adding a splash of color to a little black dress. This shoe is called Piper by Lovely People and is selling for $129!

Who doesn’t love a sexy over-the-knee boot? Unlike the one you might have seen on the runways or Blake Lively on Gossip Girl, this one won’t break the bank. Pair this with a micro-mini for a killer look. This over-the-knee-boot is Wine by GC Shoes and goes for only $69.95!!

I’m loving the snakeskin pattern on this ankle boot. It’s sophisticated, trendy, and super-cool, all at the same time. I’m dying to slip these on with dark tights or leggings—this boot just demands to be worn with something tight! Even better, this is the ultimate day-to-night boot. The dark color keeps it work-appropriate, but the pattern and heel are strictly for after your job is done! This fierce ankle boot is called Engima and you can get it for 60.95!

Remember, you can have any of these styles by calling Shoegasm directly at: 212-691-2091.

Outfit of the Week

Friday, October 30th, 2009

So, Betsey Johnson came to Las Vegas and did two store appearances. Being that I am a Betsey Johnson fan, I had to meet her. And, of course, I had to look cute for her and wear Betsey Johnson. Going through a gray phase right now, I chose my to wear my gray leather Betsey Johnson boots. Then, while waiting for her at the Betsey Johnson store at Miracle Mile at planet hollywood, I purchased the Betsey Johnson Little Bow Pleat handbag (in gray, of course!), and I nabbed a great deal. Originally $268, I got the bag, a pair of earrings and a pair of socks for $197. All because the store was having a promotion – purchase $300, save $125. Score!

Here’s the best part: Betsey signed my handbag and I got a picture taken with her! Naturally, I’m on cloud nine. Oh, and guess what? Betsey told me she is also going through a gray phase for the fall season. Great minds think alike! She’s my new BFF!

Product I Love: Stiruppz

Monday, October 19th, 2009

The makers of Stiruppz, a style accessory that keeps your pants securely tucked into your boots, contacted me recently to review their product and wondered if I would be interested. They weren’t sure I would be since I live in mega-hot Las Vegas, and perhaps boots aren’t as popular in Vegas as they are in the cooler areas of the country. “Whoa!” I exclaimed. It can be in the 90s in hot-as-hell Las Vegas, and we girls LOVE and ROCK our boots. “Send me a sample,” I urged Stiruppz, “Girls in Vegas love their boots.”

The weather has recently cooled in Sin City, and I finally got the chance to try Stiruppz, Now, keep in mind, I am a mega-boot girl. I am obsessed with boots, but I normally wear my boots with dresses because I hate fidgeting with my clothes. And I’ve found that when I wear pants with my boots, I’m spending the entire day tucking and re-tucking my pant legs into my boots. So, when I discovered Stiruppz, I had was delighted to find a solution to my problem.

I first wore Stiruppz with a pair of jeans and mid-calf, slouchy leather boots. I had been dying to wear these particular boots with jeans, but because the boots are low in shaft height, I knew it wouldn’t work. But, it did with Stiruppz. This first attempt took some working and re-working as one of the clips was rubbing uncomfortably against my ankle. Once I re-worked that clip, it was fine. Two tips: you must wear socks with your Stiruppz and I recommend wearing socks that go past your ankles.

Then I wore my Stiruppz with a pair of cotton cargo pants and another pair of mid-calf boots. Because this was the second time around with Stiruppz, there was no session of working and re-working. Another tip: Stiruppz are not adjustable. The fit depends on high you cuff your pants. Your first time using Stiruppz will be a lesson on how to make them work for you.

Later in the week, I wore another pair of cargo pants with some knee-high boots and no Stiruppz, thinking that the height of the shaft would keep my pants in place. Big mistake. I ended up with baggy knees within an hour. That’s when I realized how important Stiruppz are in my wardrobe now. Once you use them, you’ll find out the same.

If you are a perfectionista fashionista with a growing collection of boots, as I am, you need to add Stiruppz to your accessory drawer today. Keep your boots tucked nicely in your pants and always look put together and styled.

Purchase Stiruppz for $25.00 for one pair at Stiruppz.com and keep your style secure.

Outfit of the Week

Friday, October 16th, 2009

I’m going gray. And, I don’t mean my hair. Gray is my color of the season. It’s just so cozy and comforting. The pants are from American Eagle Outfitters. They’re normally $44.50, but they were on sale for $14.50. That was such a great price that I bought the same pair in olive, too. Of course, I had to add a little color to my mostly gray outfit with my pretty-colored, Summer Peacock Necklush given to me by the folks at Moxsie.com.

Outfit of the Week

Friday, October 9th, 2009

Okay, so I go to Fashion Bash with Junior J from JetSetSocialite.com and he immediately spots this dress. That young man has an eagle eye for fashion. It was the only one like it and, luckily, in my size. Totally affordable at $45, I nabbed it on the spot. The designer had no business cards with him and the dress has no label, so I can’t tell you who made it. But, I can tell you I love it. I wore this outfit to my birthday dinner at Nob Hill at MGM Grand. Good times.

The Details:

One-shoulder look, minimal jewelry, dark eye shadow, pale lips and a pony tail.

Outfit of the Week

Friday, January 23rd, 2009

I must tell you about these boots. Okay, so I go to Buffalo Exchange’s 35th anniversary event and I’m in a “recessionista” mood looking for bargains when I happen upon these Steve Madden boots. The leather is utterly luscious and soft and I love how squishy and plush the top cuff of the boots feels. Plus, they fit perfect. But they’re marked $26.95 and I’m thinking they’re totally overpriced. I mean, it’s Buffalo Exchange. Stuff is used and supposed to be cheap and these are just Steve Madden. It’s not like they’re a high-end designer brand, right? But I love them and buy them, keeping in mind that should I suffer buyer’s remorse, I can always return them.

When I get home, I inspect the boots further only to notice that the soles are scuff-free. These boots aren’t used. They’re brand spanking new! Then I go to Steve Madden’s online store only to find this exact pair marked down to $79.95, originally $149.95. And I got them for $26.95? I didn’t overpay. I scored!
