Thanks to the generosity of MGM Grand’s Crazy Horse Paris, I received two comp tickets to see the show which featured the legendary Dita Von Teese. A limited time engagement with this Las Vegas favorite show, I got to see Dita on her final night, and it was a dream come true. Obviously, I had to wear something special just for her. And I chose to go with a sexy, retro look. Immediately I knew this pencil skirt and my animal print platform shoes would work. But I needed the right blouse, so I went to bebe.
Are you understanding the fashion math presented here? Here’s how it works:
Pencil Skirt + Animal Print Platforms + Anything from bebe = Sexy Retro
So the next time you’re wanting to do a sexy retro look, remember that formula.
The Details:
The modern-day gold tone pinhead studs and grommets balance out the retro pleats and ruffles of this silk blouse.

A single ruffle adds depth to a simple black pencil skirt.

Basic accessories keep the outfit from looking like a costume. The belt and clutch are re-styled pieces. The belt originally had a silver buckle, which I painted black, and the clutch originally had a shoulder strap, which I cut off and then used a Sharpie marker to paint the area where I’d removed the strap.

Time for another Tweetup. I sure go to a lot of these, don’t I? This particular one was ladies only, and I couldn’t wait to see old friends and finally meet in person women with whom I’ve been talking to on Twitter.
I had to go from the office to the event, so I opted for something with which I could create two looks. The basis of the outfit is the zebra print lingerie top and denim trousers. Add a cardigan, and I’m office appropriate. Take off the sweater and add a rockin’ leather jacket, and I’m ready for a night out with the gals.
And check out my new hot shoes. Tsubo sent me these darling, fashion-forward oxfords called Nabu, which I plan to review in a future post. What I can tell you now is that these shoes are SUPER COMFY. I could run a marathon in these shoes. They have great style, but are as comfortable as a sneaker. I kid you not.

Pearls and a vintage sterling silver ring from Mexico are a fun style contrast.
These Tsubo shoes are not only comfy, they’re so urban chic.

Okay. I admit it. I’m obsessive. Right now I am obsessed with all things gray. I had been jonesing for a nice pair of gray cutout ankle booties for a couple of weeks, and I finally found them at Forever21.com for only $26. These are the Virginia Ankle Pumps, but they seem to already be sold out online. Check in-store.
One obsession down, many, many more to go!

This news comes from the pages of Fashion Pulse Daily. Be sure to click on the author’s, Julia DiNardo, video included below. And don’t forget to make one for yourself! Hurry! The deadline to enter is this Sunday, August 9th!
Now through August 9th, Bebe is giving away several $1,000 shopping sprees as part of their Rock bebe Jeans Sweepstakes.
Just fill out the entry form, select a dancer, and upload your photo to enter (you’ll see what I mean when you click on this link). You get to “wear” one of the three new jeans styles in the video as well (all skinny styles). It’s rather hilarious and weird to see your face superimposed on someone else’s body dancing — check out the video bebe made of me:
Good luck!
Score! Got these cute, teal sequined heels from bebe at ShopGoodwill.com for under $20, including
shipping and handling. They’re in great condition and not a single sequin is missing. All I can do is wonder why anyone would have gotten rid of them.
One woman’s thrift store donation is my treasure!

I have a weird sense of humor (often inappropriate) and I believe in blending my sense of humor with my sense of fashion. So, when these Zombie Stomper Heels by Iron Fist were brought to my attention via my Twitter friend @tommytrc, I HAD to get them. Not only are they hilarious, but they also represent my love for horror movies and zombie flicks.

Don’t take fashion so seriously. If you happen upon something unusual and you simply love it, know that you can incorporate it into an outfit. Just practice balance, as I did here. My skirt and blouse are a little conservative and retro and together they balance out the hilarity of my heels. I even got away with wearing these shoes to work!

I love to wear a pop of color with black and white. Blue, yellow, green, orange or red. Any color goes with black and white. But, just a pop will do. It can be on your shoes, bag or belt. Or you can do what I did which is to wear my pop of color on my belt and in a blouse that peeks out from beneath my dress. A pop of color adds dimension to a black and white outfit. And layers add depth.
