It’s Time for a Change

New President. New government. New economy.
Well, we’re hoping for a new economy, anyway.

This country is about to change. But, is your wardrobe ready? Don’t get left behind as the rest of the country progresses. The best way to welcome change is to make a personal one. I say start with your wardrobe.

Begin with small changes, so you don’t go broke. Even small changes can make a world of a difference. If you choose only one recommended change below, you’ll still be set on a journey for even bigger changes ahead.

1. Add color. I love black, too, but if you are ready to jazz up your monochromatic wardrobe, start by adding dashes of color here and there. A blue scarf around your neck will liven up your complexion. A bright orange belt creates a waistline. And, nothing captures the eye like a pair of purple shoes with a black outfit. (Note: These suggestions are intended to be worn separately. Please don’t wear a blue scarf, orange belt and purple shoes all at once. But…you already knew that, didn’t you?)

Belt from Ami Clubwear.
Shoes from Aldo.

2. Add prints. Stop buying solid colored pieces. Start buying prints. This includes shoes and handbags. Plaid shoes are hot. Reptile embossed handbags add luxe appeal to any outfit. Don’t be afraid to attract attention to yourself. After all, you’re trying to make a change.

3. Play with layers. Want to know how to take that boring, ordinary blouse and make it special? Layer it with something else. If it’s a button down blouse, add a thin, lace camisole beneath the blouse and leave it unbuttoned. Or, wear a layer over the blouse, such as a vest or fitted blazer. If you’re ready to be really adventurous, begin with the thin camisole, followed by the unbuttoned blouse, and then add the fitted blazer on top of that. Three layers can make things really interesting.

4. Do something unexpected. Think peep toe ankle boots with a pair of tights; a short sleeved jacket over a long sleeved blouse; equestrian boots with a pretty dress. Play and have fun.

5. Be confident. The biggest change you can make is to love your body the way it is and dress in a way that reflects that self love. Love your curves and don’t hide them. Have a flat rear end? Who cares? Accentuate your tiny waistline with a pretty belt; show off your fab smile with red lipstick; strut your shapely legs with a sexy pair of fishnets. If you have the confidence, you can wear any trend, outfit, color or print. Accept your flaws but love your assets and focus on bringing attention to them. By focusing on your best assets, you’ll build your confidence and forget you even have any flaws.
